Position Description:
Multimedia Communication Officer
The Multimedia Communication Officer is responsible for creating and developing engaging media products across multiple platforms. His/her role would be to help WSC produce compelling videos and photos that promote WSC’s achievements, as well as promote WSC’s work on social media. He/she would be an excellent storyteller, video and photo editor, script writer, and can communicate complex topics in an engaging way for both specialized audiences and social media audiences. The officer should be innovative and self-driven and can connect with local communities and different stakeholders to provide the human interest and impact side of project activities. He/she will be an excellent team player and can coordinate with various WSC teams to obtain relevant information in a timely manner. He/she will report to the Communication and GESI Team Lead to support the implementation of an effective communication strategy.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Produce appealing and effective, fully edited high-quality photos, videos, and films to inform and engage a local and international audience.
- Successfully use social media platforms, especially Facebook, to produce engaging text, photo, and video posts that attract viewers. Should be able to use good judgment on what is shareable on these platforms.
- Write professional scripts and storyboards for multimedia presentations. Propose ideas and slogans for communication campaigns.
- Responsible for maintaining and building a professional WSC archive of all photos, footage, and videos that are produced.
- Prepare for interviews by doing background research and drafting questions that will help interviewees give excellent interviews
- Responsible for compiling accurate information about each photo taken and labeling it accordingly.
- Responsible for conducting research, as necessary to help produce accurate content for compelling videos and accurate labels for photos
- Skilled in taking artistic photos of subjects that are technical in nature
- Responsible for compiling the best photos (poster quality) of each activity and delivering them to the Communication and GESI Team Lead on a regular basis
- Assist in managing social media accounts and boosting ads
- Is part of the Communication Team and is responsible to assist in event planning and delivery
- Assist the Communication and Outreach Team with other assignments mandated by the project
- Daytime travel throughout Lebanon is required
- Reports to the Communication and GESI Team Lead
Qualifications:
- At least a bachelor’s in cinematography, photography, audiovisual, photojournalism, or related disciplines with a minimum of five years professional experience
- Well-versed in Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Photoshop, After Effects and other software for photography editing, video audio editing and media output and encoding for different platforms. Advanced skills in Prezi and PowerPoint are a plus.
- Ability to provide constructive and creative input for key messages delivery
- Ability to produce communication products using behavioral change communication
- Knowledge of audiovisual communication
- Solid and hands-on experience in videography, photography, and editing
- Ability to produce engaging videos from A to Z, while relying on storytelling techniques, starting from filming, to interviewing, to editing, to captioning, to music selection and audio editing, to subtitling etc…
- Experience with producing AJ+ and World Economic Forum style videos, preferred
- Ability to direct interviewees in order to tell a story on video
- Excellent artistic skills, with a keen eye for cutting-edge videography, photography, imagery, layout, color, composition, lighting, music etc.
- Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and interviewing skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment, as most assignments will involve several stakeholders, whether in the field or in-office.
- Demonstrated ability to meet work deadlines.
- Should be self-motivated and capable of taking initiatives and proposing and finding ideas and stories that help promote the successes of the project, while at the same time being an excellent team player
- Journalism reporting and graphic design experience is a plus
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Experience with writing slogans is a plus.
- Proficiency in both spoken and written Arabic and English
