RDFL is seeking a research consultant and Team Leader for the global humanitarian program – Youth in Crisis for Lebanon Assignment.

Objective is: Societies are transformed to become more just, feminist, green, and resilient.

KEY DELIVERABLES

The consultant is required to provide (key deliverables):

Review and confirm the development of the work plan proposed by the group of youth for the research implementation:

Research questions

Data collection tools

Date analysis tools

Timeline

Roles and responsibilities

Review and confirm the result of the data analysis lead by the group of youth

Lead the write up of the report sections with close collaboration and in-depth engagement of the group of youth.

Lead the drafting of the recommendation section including in the report that is expected to include future action plans and initiative with specific advocacy messages

METHODOLOGY

The proposed assignment is expected to utilize variety of methods to support the execution of AA youth led participatory research module. That can be but not limited to the following:

Studying AA youth led participatory research module and propose any contextualized method

Lead meetings and brain storming session with the group of youth to ensure proper understanding of the module (in person or virtual)

Mentoring and coaching of the group of youth through out the entire module process and implementation (i.e conduct frequent/daily check in meetings, create WhatsApp groups for quick messages…etc)

Create peer groups and support systems for the group of youth for safe and proper implementation of the field work

Design data collection tools to be used for the research in close collaboration with the group of youth

Preparing an inception report outlining the contextualised approach and methodology to be used in the assignment:

Timeline/schedule of activities

Detailed and clear plan of means to support the group of youth in implementation the research process

Detailed methodology of how to collect, triangulate and summarize both quantitative and qualitative data lead/support by the group of youth

Train the group of youth on the data collection and analysis tools chosen by the group

Report writing (in well-written English) first and final draft

Debrief with project and country management teams

QUALIFICATIONS OF CONSULTANT

Demonstrated experience in development programmes research, including selecting methodology appropriate for the project’s-specific factors, sampling, applying a mixed methods approach, developing/revising participatory data collection tools, developing data quality protocols and training enumerators

The consultant/s must have a degree in MEAL, social sciences, English or related fields.

At least 5 years of professional experience in Documentation, Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning studies, coaching, and mentoring of youth people.

Experience in participatory data collection methods with different stakeholders and in particular youth

High level of Arabic and English languages required (written and spoken)

Strong understanding of the Lebanese context, more specifically young people’s conditions in Lebanon and humanitarian systems.
