General Purpose of the Position
The Social Worker is responsible for organizing and coordinating all psycho-social support activities at Frans Van der Lugt Centre. S/he is the Focal Point in referrals and in all Outreach activities. S/he will be assisting vulnerable people in understanding, dealing with and coping with their situations. S/he reports to and coordinates with the Project Director and the Social Worker supervisor.
Key Responsibilities
- Organizes trainings/awareness sessions on relevant subjects.
- Aids in organizing a needs assessment of the people we serve and elaborate this assessment with the Project Director and Social Worker Supervisor. S/he conducts psychosocial assessment of vulnerable cases.
- Organizes outreach for vulnerable and high-risk forcibly displaced, migrant and undocumented families.
- Counsels and follows up on individual cases identified or referred by the team, or by other agencies.
- Provides direct support and care for vulnerable people with protection concerns and provides social interventions through case management (individual, group, family) for different groups (men, women, families) or through psychosocial support to assist them in understanding, dealing with and coping with their situations.
- Conducts face-to-face or phone-based case management and follow-up for existing and new cases, in terms of orientation, referral, etc. as well as facilitates access and referral for cases of trauma and high-risk to internal JRS Services (JRS Lebanon psychologists, psychiatrics).
- Develops and supervises psycho-social programmes for vulnerable and high-risk persons. This includes skills-training, vocational training and entertainment.
- Ensures that protection principles are understood, maintained, and enforced and be the focal point for referrals and the main contact with other entities in coordination with the Project Director or Social Worker supervisor.
- Works with lawyers and doctors to provide weekly and monthly support to forcibly displaced persons.
- Conducts home visits to assess the living conditions of the cases if needed as well during the intervention plan.
- Participates in meetings and trainings inside and outside the centres when required.
- Provides daily & weekly updates to Project Director and the Social worker supervisor and report the critical cases/ high risk cases
- Manages, fills, archives specific forms for cases profiling, referral and weekly/ monthly reporting ensuring confidentiality, accuracy, and timeliness.
Ensure prompt execution of other tasks which are within the ambit of the position which may be requested by the Project Director or the Social Worker Supervisor as needs occur.
Qualification & Competencies
- Bachelor's Degree in social work or any other related field.
- At least 1 to 2 years of experience of working in the humanitarian field or same field (previous experience of working with ladies is a plus)
- Ability to write and edit reports
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and team working skills
- Good cultural awareness and sensitivity
- Highly approachable, trustworthy and maintain confidentiality Fluency in Arabic is required. English is required for reporting.
