In alignment with the Covid-19 Response Mechanism, channeled through MER, the consultant is expected to update the National DS-TB and LTBI case management and treatment protocols and develop comprehensive training modules for TB prevention and control based on gap analysis, training needs assessment in the COVID-19 context.
The consultant will work under the overall guidance of IOM, the National TB committee, the Communicable Diseases committee, WHO country office and Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office (EMRO) TB Programme.
Deliverables:
Updated Guidelines for DS-TB and LTBI case management and treatment protocols.
Scope of work/ Outputs:
- Carry out meetings with the National TB committee and other key stakeholders to discuss current mechanism of provision of treatment in the light of WHO and CDC recommendations and amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Carry out meetings with the communicable diseases committee, the Society of infectious disease and Society of Pulmonary diseases to consult on the contents of the guidelines and protocols.
- Draft the updated guidelines and protocols in further consultation with WHO-EMRO.
- Share the draft guidelines and protocols with the National TB committee and Communicable Diseases committee for their review and approval.
Two comprehensive training modules (in English) for:
- Training Module1. The Management of DS-TB and LTBI for medical practitioners
- Training Module2. Active Case Finding Activities for Community health workers
Scope of work/ Outputs:
- Undertake desk research and analyze all the necessary documents and materials available for training health care workers and other staff involved in the delivery of TB services to fully understand the ground situation.
- Carry out meetings with stakeholders to bring out the roles and responsibilities of key players and institutions.
- Conduct a gap analysis and training needs assessment to identify issues and priorities in line with the objectives of this project. This should include meetings and interviews with relevant stakeholders.
- Based on the above, update the comprehensive training modules for:
- The Management of DS-TB and LTBI for medical practitioners
- Active Case Finding Activities for Community health workers
Deliverables should be finalized and sent within contract duration
Performance Indicators:
- Updated Drug Susceptible-Tuberculosis management guidelines delivered within the consultancy period
- Updated Latent Tuberculosis Infection management guidelines delivered within the consultancy period
- Training modules for the Management of DS-TB and LTBI for medical practitioners delivered within the consultancy period
- Training modules for Active Case Finding Activities for Community health workers delivered within the consultancy period
