JOB TITLE: Individual & Family Social Worker
JOB PURPOSE:
The Individual & Family Social Worker will be in charge of Individual and Family Case Management and Counseling and will work on ensuring that the ABAAD centers are a safe space for those seeking support. The post holder will provide confidential case management and psychosocial support, as well as referrals to other service providers as needed. They will work with vulnerable women and girls, those at risk of GBV, and survivors of GBV and will be the first point of contact for those in need.
REPORTING LINES: Case Management Supervisor & Center Coordinator
KEY RESPONSABLILITIES:
- Provide direct support and counseling to vulnerable women and girls
- Provide safe and appropriate case management and referrals to GBV survivors
- Promote the survivor’s emotional and physical safety and wellbeing
Case management will include:
- Assessment of needs
- Developing an action plan
- Implementing the plan
- Appropriate following Case closure (if and when appropriate)
- Ensuring confidentiality and implementation of the ‘Do No Harm Approach”
- Prepare and submit weekly, monthly and 3-month work plans in a timely manner and incorporate manager feedback.
- Support the maintenance of the ABAAD’s case management system and the GBV Information Management System.
- Participate in weekly internal meetings and monthly team meetings to ensure adherence to standards of appropriate case management
- Collect and manage data safely and ethically
- Coordinate with and represent ABAAD at Working Group meetings
- As requested undertake/participate in liaison, coordination, and information sharing activities with national NGOs, international organizations, donors and government
- Coordinate closely with the shelter team in case of assessment for new referral.
- Continuously coordinate with field working groups for referral pathways in target areas
- Develop and oversee activities to take place in WGSS
- Make recommendations to WGSS Program Management team
- Coordinate with other actors providing essential services including: health, legal, psychosocial, security, shelter, both internally and externally
- Advocate with other organizations to ensure that survivor receives best possible care
- Build capacity of other groups – particularly community groups – to provide quality GBV prevention and response
- Ensure a safe and welcoming environment for those in center
- Use a survivor-centered and community-based approach
- Respect guiding principles of safety, confidentiality, non-discrimination
SKILLS AND COMPETENCE:
- BA, Master or equivalent Degree in Social Work, Psychology or any related field;
- Minimum five years of experience in a similar position;
- Knowledge of GBV prevention and response;
- Experience in GBV programming, and demonstrated gender sensitivity;
- Experience of working in/with non-government organizations;
- Experience in implementing international and national principles and standards related to working with women/ girls exposed to violence, their families, people with Special Needs/Disability, Juveniles, Refugees, Migrants and Marginalized Groups
- Knowledge of case management principles
- Strong case management experience based on survivor-centered approach
- Familiarity with GBV data collection system and safe and ethical guidelines
- Ability to work with both adult and child survivors
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to human rights and gender equality
- Flexible pro-active attitude
- Ability to work well as an individual and in a team
- Ability to manage an unpredictable workload in a challenging environment
- Ability to work across socio-cultural and religious contexts
- Belief in ABAAD’s mission and vision

- Languages: Fluency in spoken and written Arabic, clear and concise reporting in English is strongly preferred. French is a plus
- Must be computer literate, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
