Job Title : Psychologist
Reports to : Deputy Project Manager
Duty Station : South (roving between Hasbaya, Marjayoun, Bintjbeil, Nabatieh, Tyre and Saida)
Position Type : Consultancy
Job Purpose:
Provide specialized services and individual psychological support for people with moderate to severe mental and/or emotional disorders, with a focus on survivors and individuals at risk of gender-based violence.
Provide technical support to protection staff to implement sound psychosocial support (PSS) activities undertaken in safe spaces and through community-based structures.
Generic Duties:
- Assist protection cases, including survivors and individuals at risk of gender-based violence (GBV) with identified mental or emotional disorders referred internally or externally
- Conduct case-by-case needs assessments for the diagnosis of psychological disorders and identification of treatment and therapy
- Develop individual assistance plans and conduct psychological counselling utilizing various techniques
- Document progress on cases, maintaining strict protocols for confidentiality and consent, and ensure that data protection protocols are respected
- Provide group and individual counselling sessions, according to identified needs
- Facilitate internal trainings to protection staff on the provision of basic psychosocial counselling as part of the case management and on psychosocial first aid (PFA)
- Strengthen community based psychosocial support and peer support group activities
- Work in close collaboration with technical staff (Protection Manager and Senior Case Worker) for the development of the project’s overall PSS component
- Provide coaching and support to the field staff in the implementation of structured PSS activities
- Carry out all tasks respecting key protection principles, including but not limited to: do no harm, non-discrimination, confidentiality, accountability and need-to-know principles
- Support Protection Manager in developing and/or updating protection tools and training materials in order to meet projects requirements
- Support Project Manager/ Programme Manager/Head of Base in developing required donor reports, providing relevant insights on protection related issues
- Establish and maintain collaborative relations with relevant partners and other project stakeholders working in the project areas
- Proactively participate in relevant meetings and trainings, as requested by the supervisor
Specific Duties:
- Provide individual tailored psychological counselling and follow up to individuals in GBV case management
- Design and deliver emotional support group sessions (6 per cycle), including packages on stress management, healthy coping mechanisms, dealing with emotions and expressing feelings.
- Support in the design and delivery of PSS activities delivered through community-based structures
- In coordination with the Protection Manager, develop and administer baseline MHPSS questionnaires for psychological counselling and emotional support group sessions
- Provide regular follow-up to project participants to check on their coping mechanisms during COVID and provide them with an outlet to seek further support as needed
- Design a self-case package for INTERSOS staff and deliver periodic one-day self-care support for staff.
- Assess the training and capacity needs of project staff as related to PSS and provide training on psychological support, MHPSS, psychological first aid as and when requested
Reporting:
- Provide Case Management Officer with regular overview of support provided through the case management including description of interventions and support, case status, challenges and opportunities, and suggested next steps
- Submission of weekly case/activity plan and monthly report.
Education:
- Master Degree in Clinical or Adjustment Psychology.
- Having a Licence for Clinical Practice is Favourable

Professional Competencies:
- Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in a clinical setting, providing Individual Counselling Sessions and with at least 1 NGO;
- Understanding and commitment to SGBV rights and protection;
- Experience providing individual counseling services;
- Computer literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook);
- Analytical and reporting skills;
- Driving license.
