ABOUT THE STRUCTURE…

Solidarités International (SI) is an International NGO working with vulnerable populations, mainly victims of armed conflicts and natural disasters. Specialized for nearly 40 years in the coverage of vital needs, S.I. takes charge of emergency and reconstruction programs.

With respect for cultures and close to the people, Solidarités International implements its programs by combining its skills with those of its employees and local managers.

Solidarités International's teams, made up of around 270 expatriates and nearly 2200 local employees, are today present in 18 countries in Asia, Middle East, Africa and Caribbean where they are particularly committed to fighting diseases related to unsafe water but also in the essential area of food security and livelihoods.

ABOUT THE JOB

General objective:

Under the supervision of the Community Engagement and Services Deputy Program Manager (CE & Services DPM), the Services Team Leader is responsible for implementing, monitoring and reporting lifesaving activities conducted by the field officers in charge of water trucking, desludging and water quality sampling and analysis, to help promote safe practices and reduce risks. The services Team Leader will be based in Akkar.

The main challenges:

The Team Leader will have to coordinate with multiple departments to ensure that the sites are receiving enough quantities of water per person per day.

Understanding the severity for the needs.

Priorities for the 2/3 first months:

Follow up on Quality of water delivered and ensure safe discharge.

Get Involved in the emergency response.

Develop close collaboration with different departments inside SI.

Ensure field-level coordination and relations with key stakeholders

Responsibilities and main activities:

JOB

List of main responsibilities:

Maintain ongoing surveillance of the developing humanitarian emergency situation and propose adjustments accordingly.

Regularly visit the activities’ sites and follow up directly with the local partner to raise their capacity and awareness about the implementation.

Monitor on a monthly basis SI laboratory items inventory and report the needed items to the CE &Services DPM.

Prepare Monthly schedule for water trucking and desludging activities including distribution and collection of vouchers for water trucking.

Participate with the CE & Services DPM in the prioritization of the target areas for SI intervention and support and supervise field data collection process (community group discussions, focus group discussions).

Conduct regular physio chemical and Free Residual Chlorine (FRC) tests to ensure that good quality of water is delivered to the beneficiaries.

Follow up on the monitoring done by the Field Officers after the referrals for water trucking and Desludging within SI areas of intervention and validate the effective need of Desludging.

Conduct quality control over all activities databases under your management to ensure databases are matching, clean and report any discrepancies.

Identify technical and organizational development assistance requirements for the ongoing activities and suggest improvements.

Follow up with the wastewater treatment plant on the access permission and quantities.

Team Management

Supervise field officers to ensure timely and quality implementation.

Ensure that performance reviews are carried out according to defined procedure, and monitor the professional development of staff under your supervision.

Create the conditions to ensure effective teamwork and morale. Ensure staff well-being is addressed.

Participate in the recruitment of technical staff under your responsibility.

Reporting/Communication

Report the progress of activities of his/her team to the CE & Services DPM on a weekly basis.

Ensure the proper archiving of data related to project implementation by the team.

Contribute to the compilation of the monthly Activity Info (AI) and Activity Progress Update (APU).

The above list is a non-exhaustive one, nor limitative. You could be asked other responsibilities and tasks within the framework of the job on demand of the direct line manager.

The Services Team Leader may be asked to drive SI cars while respecting the driving policies set by the logistic department.

YOUR PROFILE

Education

A university degree or equivalent in environment, health or any related field.

Experience

3 to 4 years of experience providing rapid emergency response WASH services as part of a rapid response task force.

Previous experience working with NGO in supervisory role.

Knowledge of Lebanese context and previous experience working in North Lebanon-Preferred.

Proven knowledge and or previous experience in emergency water trucking, desludging, chlorination, and water quality analysis.

Knowledge and technical skills

Advanced knowledge about environmental and health related WASH, management, planning, Online tools and Microsoft office.

Advanced knowledge on soft component linked with chlorination, water filters and sanitation removal side effect.

Very good knowledge of project cycle management, and humanitarian response standards.

Very good knowledge of delivering WASH services in emergency context is mandatory.

Good and proven written and spoken English are required.

Transferable skills

Capacity to work under pressure, solve problems, and decide quickly on contingency actions.

A salaried post:  1615 USD
