  1. Required qualifications, competences and experience

 

Qualification

  • University degree (preferably in Business/Accounting/Finance or similar) 

     

     

Professional experience

  • At least 3 years’ professional experience in a comparable position
  • Administration and accountancy work experience in development cooperation and similar organization 

Other knowledge, additional competences

  • Good working knowledge of ITC technologies and related software (e.g., Outlook, internet applications) etc. and computer applications (e.g., MS Office, Excel, Power Point; knowledge of SAP is a plus).
  • Gender sensitivity expected.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving with attention to details and ability to multi- task.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Meet deadlines in a fast-paced quickly changing environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English language.
  • Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management.

 

  1. Responsibilities

The Junior Accounting Specialist will be responsible for the following:

  • Check vouchers, scan, and upload on Winpaccs system.
  • Handle the bookkeeping journals.
  • Support in quality assurance of the monthly errors’ sheets
  • Conduct other tasks requested by your line manager.

 

In this context, the position holder fulfils the following tasks:

 

  1. Tasks
  1. Financial services
  • Checks the plausibility of vouchers and categorizing of vouchers according to the internal bookkeeping charts of accounts.
  • Handles the bookkeeping journals for projects.
  • Checks the vouchers and receipts submitted by the projects/programmes for completeness and allocation to cost units and categories and corrects these where necessary.
  • Carries out accounting tasks using WINPACCS accounting software and prepares monthly end-of-period accounts and bank reconciliation vouchers.
  • Scan accounting vouchers and upload them in WINPACCS Cloud.
  • Maintains proper and confidential filing of financial related documents. 
  1. Quality Assurance (monthly error sheets)
  • Support in preparation of monthly error sheets for project journals and communicates results on time to the projects/programmes managers.
  • Monitors the completion of rectification of monthly error sheets and follows up with the related projects managers. 
  1. Other duties/additional tasks
  • Regularly checks the changes in GIZ Orientation and Regulations Tool (O+R) in relation to  field of work
  • Performs other relevant duties and tasks at the request of direct superior
  • Fill ZASone (Zeitaufschriebe) on daily bases
