arche noVa – Initiative for People in Need is an independent, non-religious, non-profit and non-governmental organisation (NGO) from Germany working in the fields of humanitarian aid, rehabilitation and development cooperation. The primary focus of activities lies in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Food Security and Livelihoods as well as informal Education.
Since 2016 arche noVa (A.N) has been active in Lebanon, implementing projects focusing on access to safe water, sanitation, livelihood and food security as well as on informal education. For the implementation and coordination of a humanitarian aid project in the food security sector we are looking for a:
Field Officer (f/m/d)
Position to be filled: August 2023 (offer pending Donor's approval)
Location of duty station: Tripoli with frequent travels to the project locations
Duration: Contract till 31.12.2023 with a 3 months probationary period, extension is desired.
Under the supervision of the FSL and WASH project managers, the field officer is responsible for the daily technical planning, implementation, supervision, monitoring, management of resources, reporting of the field activities, supporting in voucher distribution, awareness sessions, and shop monitoring, as well as ensuring proper coordination with municipalities and other stakeholders. The position requires a significant amount of fieldwork and movement within the intervention zone (Akkar). The Field Officer will ensure that activities are delivered according to the projects plan and objectives and in compliance with ANs and donor’s regulations.
Timely and quality implementation of activities
- Collect accurate data at field level and participate in data analysis
- Contribute in conducting assessment, baseline and impact surveys
- Help in designing and setting up criteria for selecting targeted communities and beneficiaries
- To provide support to the projects managers for the design of the activities.
- To provide support to the projects managers in the design of the awareness materials to be provided to project participants.
- To conduct FSL and WASH MHM activities in the field under the guidance of the managers (assessment, distribution, trainings, raising awareness, monitoring, reporting, etc.).
- To conduct household visits, focus group discussions and key informant interviews upon the request of the managers.
- Daily follow up on the distribution activities
- To provide verbal and written reports on the activities to the projects managers as and when needed.
- Ensure the timely implementation of field works as per the predefined schedule.
- Inform and document the anomalies and the challenges carried out during the implementation phase of the program.
- To participate in the briefing and induction sessions given to stakeholders.
- Supporting in procurement procedures and market assessments
Stakeholder coordination
- Coordination in the field with the local stakeholders and other NGOs on best implementation including participants, and communities affected by the project activities.
- Field coordination with local authorities and ensuring continuous communication with beneficiaries and communities’ representatives regarding the implementation of activties and in order to ensure a flawless progress of activities.
- Support in building relationships between arche noVa, local authorities, municipalities and communities.
Data collection and reporting
- File, document, and report work progress to the line manager on weekly basis.
- Regular reporting of work progress to the managers.
- Report possible problems or conflicts during the activities.
- Report the use of materials and possible improvement.
Your competences:
- Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural engineering, Nutrition, food security, humanitarian action, or any related field
- 2 years of professional experience in humanitarian and development organization
- Fluency in spoken and written English and Arabic
- Previous experience with NGO/INGO is an asset
- Previous experience in livelihoods, food security and/or agricultural projects providing cash assistance is an asset
