OVERALL MISSION
1- GENERAL OBJECTIVE
Under the direct supervision of the Nutrition and Health Team Manager, the Health and Nutrition Officer is responsible for the set-up, monitoring, evaluation, and administration of all community health and nutrition interventions and outreach activities, as based on PU-AMI’s health strategy of program/project activities in the areas of intervention.

2- RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
1. ENSURE PROPER IMPLEMENTATION OF ACTIVITIES
- Lead the scale up plan for developing the community health and nutrition network in the areas assigned in the project intervention framework;
- Lead the implementation of Health and Nutrition activities assigned that are in accordance with the project’s outlined activities;
- Lead the implementation process of the tracking system for referrals from the community to the PHCC and liaise with the Health Focal Points for the activities related to referral with the PHCC (i.e. follow up identified malnutrition, NCD, and immunization cases);
- Select the Community Health and Nutrition Workers with the PHCC focal point based on selection criteria;
- Ensure that Community Health and Nutrition Workers (CHNWs) have the necessary information on the referral system and provided services, and properly understand the activities to be implemented in the framework of the project;
- Assist in the preparation and provision of training activities to CHNWs on health and nutrition related topics;
- Be responsible for the follow up on the implementation of all-community health and nutrition activities defined, and follow up on the activity work plan together with the Health and Nutrition Team Manager;
- Report immediately any difficulties or delays faced in the implementation of activities to the line manager;
- Cooperate with the MEAL Department to facilitate and conduct MEAL related activities (i.e. surveys, field feedbacks, and lessons learnt exercise, etc.);
- Liaise with the IM Officer to make sure data registration is accurate on hard and digital copies;
- Participate in the preparation of training modules for building the capacity of the CHNWs;
- Monitor Community Health and Nutrition Clubs’ sessions and provide feedback to CHNWs to improve their performance;
- Prepare monthly incentive financial report for the CHNWs and submit to line manager.
2. TEAM MANAGEMENT
In Coordination with PHCC focal point:
- Assist PHCC focal point on the supervision of CHNWs to ensure the timely implementation of their activities;
- Coordinate the work of all CHNWs’ work plans, progress toward targets, and frequency of submitting the collected data;
- Ensure that the CHNWs demonstrate a high level of professionalism while working or coordinating with beneficiaries, their family members, and any internal or external party;
- Ensure that any incident or work-related conflict is immediately reported by the CHNWs;
- Ensure that the CHNWs demonstrate a high level of cultural sensitivity, professionalism, politeness and objectivity when dealing with the beneficiaries under all circumstances;
- Ensure coordination with PHCC and PU-AMI Staff and stakeholders concerning community intervention activities;
- Conduct routine field visits to monitor Community Health and Nutrition Workers activities and Community Health and Nutrition Clubs;
- Continuously collect feedback from Community Health and Nutrition Workers and other related staff.
3. LOGISTIC & ADMINISTRATION
- Define the needs in materials and tools required to conduct training activities, health and nutrition campaigns and outreach activities.
- Organize and coordinate training sessions: venue, attendees, and support materials.
4. REPORTING & DATA COLLECTION
- Collect and report information on beneficiaries reached through community outreach activities;
- Identify the number of reached beneficiaries- through coordination with PHCC focal point, by the Community Health and Nutrition Workers progress towards the assigned targets;
- Document and report training sessions and feedback from participants;
- Document and report feedback from PHCC focal point, CHNWs and beneficiaries;
- Be responsible for compiling and reporting to the line manager the data on a weekly, monthly, quarter and annual basis or upon request reserved.
QUALIFICATIONS
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS
- Language skills: Fluent in English and Arabic
- Education degree: Bachelors of Science in Nutrition, Midwife, Nursing or Public Health. Master’s in Public Health (would be desired).
- Work experience: Proven experience for 1 to 2 years working in NGOs and community health.
- Knowledge and skills:
- Good knowledge of the governorate of activities implementation with the willingness to travel and move for the scope of the work;
- Excellent experience in conducting trainings at community level and monitoring teams;
- Excellent communication (especially in public) and diplomacy skills to manage relationship in potentially tense situations
- Literacy in reporting, experience in conducting surveys
- Computer skills: Excellent knowledge of the MS office software including Word, Excel, Outlook
