Role Overview

The Global ITS department is looking for IM Officer to join its agile application development team. The IM Officer will work with the team to create solutions through the configuration of SaaS platforms and development of custom features. The role will implement methods to improve data reliability and quality.

Project Overview

Global ITS provides Medair with centralised governance, strategy, direction, innovation and support in the use of the information technologies that amplify the people to people strategy. Global ITS provides a centralised approach to ensure cost efficiency and integration, including country programs in the strategic design of systems, and delivers services locally where practical to ensure that the day-to-day needs of our GSO and country program colleagues are met.

The IMpact Program is an exciting Medair program which includes a portfolio of IT projects that will provide the tools for Medair to: report on impact and indicators at a local and global, program and sector level; collect and protect our beneficiary data; improve programming quality; create a better user experience for our staff; create operational efficiencies through automating processes and single data-entry points; increase our ability to have end-to-end accountability; and grow our ability for data driven/supported decision making. The Application Development Team is responsible for designing and building these tools.

Design and Development

Translate technical requirements, business workflows and processes into design proposals.
Develop, maintain, and implement data collection tools.
Design dashboard and reports.
Maintain, troubleshoot, and fix bugs on production solutions.

Customization and Configuration

Analyze processes and requirements to evaluate required customization.
Configure vendor solutions to meet requirements, implementing reusable components, assist with all stages of development.
Augment existing vendor systems with new features, connectors and functionality by configuration, customization and development of micro-services.
Document system implementation and support enabling business continuity.

Data Management

Help build and support data systems and pipelines.
Define and enforce good data lifecycle practices including ingestion, processing, retention, and deletion of data.
Help ensure data protection regulations & best practices are followed, privacy of people, especially beneficiaries are respected.
Conduct complex data analysis and report on results when required by donors.

Agile Collaboration

Participate and facilitate agile activities such as sprint events, pair programming.
Implement agile software development processes.

Innovation/changes

Stay up-to-date with the latest trends, technologies and practices related to system automation, delivery and interoperability.
Suggest new, innovative solutions, technologies, designs to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs & improve systems stability.

This job description covers the main tasks that are anticipated. Other tasks may be assigned as necessary.

Qualifications

Bachelor degree required with relevant experience.
Strong working knowledge of English (spoken and written). French desirable.

Experience

At least 5 years in advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) and working familiarity with various databases.
Experience building and optimizing ‘big data’ data pipelines, architectures, and data sets.
At least 3 years’ experience in constructing and enhancing the integration of data between various applications using Dell Boomi, Informatica, or SSIS.
Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.
Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets
Knowledge of enterprise business systems (ERP, e.g., Unit 4 and analytics, in areas of Finance, Logistics and /or HR (desirable)
Experience using helpdesk/ticketing systems such as Jira
Business Process Mapping (BPMN 2.0, UML, etc.)
System integration and Data Analysis (awareness of APIs, Data Modelling techniques)
Programming skills desirable: SQL, JavaScript, Java, etc.
Experience in developing processes and creating end-user documentation
Basic understanding of Project Management tools and general project steps
