ARM’s Exhibition Graphic Designer – Terms of Reference

Introduction
Anti-Racism Movement (ARM) is a local NGO established in 2011 by a group of local activists who work together with migrant workers to secure social, economic, and gender justice for all migrant workers and racialized groups in Lebanon. We work for a just society where all migrants enjoy decent living and working conditions.
Project:
The idea of the archival exhibition was born from the desire to create a truly immersive experience for its audience. The primary focus of the exhibition is to educate and inform people about the history of the Kafala system and of ARM and the Migrant Community Center through a comprehensive and visually compelling timeline. The aim of this exhibition is to highlight the oppressive nature of the Kafala system and to showcase the resistance and efforts of migrant workers in their fight against this system.
Purpose and Scope of Work:
The purpose of this consultancy is to produce visual communication while ensuring that the intended message is effectively conveyed through artistic creations.
Responsibilities:
- Conceptualising and designing 8 artboards/walls comprised of texts, images, documents and videos. The approximate dimensions of the wall are 7.5x4m, 6mx4m, 4mx4m, 5mx4m, 12.6mx4m, 8.5mx4m, 5.3mx4m, 9.8mx4m.
- Designing a variety of artwork, including graphs, maps, charts, posters, postcards, and signs.
- Developing layouts, designs, and artwork suitable for publication in both offline and online formats, as well as exhibition designs.
- Composing engaging curatorial text and captions for existing content.
- Designing the layout of the exhibits, choosing the proper fonts and display in coordination with the MCC archiving officer.
- Amending the designs following feedback.
- Coordinating with the MCC Archiving Officer, the Exhibition Designer and other relevant people.
Requirements and skills:
- Degree in Design, Fine Arts or related fields.
- Excellent knowledge and familiarity with design software and technologies such as InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work systematically, diligently, and punctually according to deadlines.
ARM commits to:
- Providing the necessary context, information, and resources during the consultancy.
- Leading on all admin, logistics, and tasks required to accomplish the proper design.
- Acting as the focal point of communication amongst different individuals.
- Providing ongoing feedback on the designing process and approach as needed.
