About Teach for Lebanon
Teach For Lebanon (TFL) is an NGO working to ensure that all children in Lebanon, regardless of socioeconomic background, have access to quality education. The model of Teach For Lebanon is an education innovation that focuses on youth capacity building to provide quality intervention and systemic support for students. TFL employs and trains Lebanon’s most promising graduates, “TFL Fellows”, and places them in schools serving underprivileged refugee and Lebanese children. These Fellows receive on-going training and support to address educational disadvantages by providing transformational teaching that places their students on a path of academic success. Along the way, they become leaders and advocates for a better Lebanon.

Role Summary
The Education Mentor serves as a critical agent in ensuring sustainability & educational support for the Fellowship program. This is a high-impact leadership role with a scope of responsibility that involves managing the educational follow up and trainings of the Fellows throughout all phases of the program and equips them with the knowledge, skills, and mindset to become highly effective fellows. The Education Mentor reports regularly to the Head of Education Department at the organization. He/she works closely with a team of 18 to 20 Fellows at least who are placed in underprivileged schools throughout Lebanon. He or she helps Fellows become ready for placement in schools and develop needed skills to work steadily towards the mission of eliminating educational inequity in Lebanon.
Main Accountabilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Manage a group of Fellows to achieve ambitious outcomes in their classrooms.
- Train and support Fellows to establish strong goals, assessments, and plans.
- Observe Fellows in their classrooms to gather information on student learning and teacher proficiency.
- Analyze data and troubleshoot with Fellows to prioritize the teacher actions and underlying factors that most impact student outcomes.
- Design and execute individual and group learning experiences to ensure that Fellows acquire the knowledge, skills, and mindsets they need to increase their proficiency.
- Develop and support Fellows to be leaders of the movement throughout and beyond their Fellowship.
- Assist in the collection and of student data in the partner schools.
- Drive and participate in additional projects to support the team in reaching set goals.
- Build and maintain strategic partnerships with school leaders throughout the academic year across regions to aim for stakeholders’ satisfaction.
- Aid in conflict resolutions between Fellows and partner schools in coordination with relevant departments.
- Facilitate opportunities for selected Fellows-to-be to practice teaching by identification and implementation of concrete next steps of improvement during SI.
- Monitor and evaluate Extra-Curricular Activities developed by the Fellows.
- Check lesson plans submitted by the Fellows following a set timeline and provide feedback accordingly.
- Provide continuous educational and emotional support to fellow through online/phone mentoring.
- Plan and execute workshops and trainings to serve the program Participate in the selection process of candidates and advise on placement of Fellows.
- Support HR with the recruitment process by assessing candidates during assessment centers and interviews
- Lead on different project collaborations and ensure their implementation, coordination and maintain constant follow-up.
- Coordinate and oversee the activities of collaborations and projects leaded by fellows and stakeholders involved in the project
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
-Bachelor’s degree in Education or relevant major required – Master’s degree is preferable.
– At least 4 years of classroom teaching experience.
– Leadership and management experience are preferable.
– Proficiency in English and Arabic.
– Proven skills in report writing.
– Strong command of Microsoft Office applications.
– Ability to prepare and deliver workshops.
Working Conditions
Location:The chosen candidate will be based in Achrafieh Office with frequent visits to the field (Bekaa region)

Other: Willingness to work some weekends and evenings to facilitate Fellows’ Professional development, conferences, and trainings.
