Background:
The project intends to complement an existing mobile team named Mobile Protection Unit (MPU) of Amel, in partnership with SamuSocial International, in the regions of Beirut and its southern suburbs. The aim of those teams is fighting against the exclusion of people in street situations, i, by reaching out vulnerable people, to propose medico-social care. This project wants to strengthen the service offered by adding specialized interventions on gender-based violence (GBV), mental health, and awareness-raising on situations of exclusion.
The project is estimated to last until March 31, 2025.
Main duties and responsibilities:
Implementation of activities
- Conduct the primary outreach to people in situations of street to enable the intervention
- Actively participate in the field activities according to the need perceived and set by the team
- Conduct awareness sessions to matters pertaining to personal safety and other related/needed topic
- Engage in the planning and implementation of recreational activities
- Check the condition of the vehicle before departure and return and report any malfunction to the coordinator
- Ensure optimized field action through improvements to the mobile vehicle
- Ensure the safety of team members and personnel during interventions
- Following and developing the safety protocols according to a culture sensitive approach
- Facilitating the informal group discussions necessary for the creation of a support relationship
- Interact with the communities during the street round to explain the Mobile Protection Unit aim
Reporting and coordination time
- Report activities on technical data sheets
- Communicate internally with the team members and Amel staff
- Communicate with stakeholders, partners and other external services
- Participate in technical meetings to study the cases
- Participate in routine team meetings as daily briefing and weekly meeting
- Participate in sessions and meetings with other Amel staff and with partners staff
- Logistical support in the development and implementation of activities
Qualifications:
- Knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent Arabic skills, English is preferred
- Demonstrated ability for active listening, stress management and dealing with difficult scenarios
- Good knowledge in Microsoft Office- especially Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
- Good knowledge of Beirut and Mount Lebanon
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal skill and communication skills
- Driving license for public vehicles for at least three years – or the equivalent permission to drive
- Knowledge and respect of the highway code and driving rules
- Knowledge in mechanics
Education and Experience:
- A Degree or previous experience in the medical or social field
- Previous experience in working and engaging with people at risk
- An experience in a medical or social field would be a plus
