Background
The project intends to complement an existing mobile team named Mobile Protection Unit (MPU) of Amel, in partnership with SamuSocial International, in the regions of Beirut and its southern suburbs. The aim of those teams is fighting against the exclusion of people in street situations, i, by reaching out vulnerable people, to propose medico-social care. This project wants to strengthen the service offered by adding specialized interventions on gender-based violence (GBV), mental health, and awareness-raising on situations of exclusion.
The project is estimated to last until March 31, 2025.
Main duties and responsibilities
Implementation of activities
- Nursing diagnosis on the people met
- Carry out basic nursing care and deliver medicines according to the legislation
- Perform the cleaning, disinfection, and decontamination required after each caregiving
- Prepare the equipment and consumables needed for street interventions and receptions in partner centers
- Follow-up on patient's medical cases and refer to the relevant medical and non-medical cases
- Assess the vaccination status of children below the age of 18 as per the national vaccination calendar
- Ensure all infection prevention and control measures are followed by all team members
- Conduct general health and sexual reproductive health and rights (SRHR) awareness-raising sessions and counselling to vulnerable communities,
- Provide basic first aid for the identified beneficiaries
- Carry out basic nursing care and follow up on the prescribed medications
- Follow Up with pregnant beneficiaries ensuring proper follow up with the nearest primary healthcare center
- Contact the coordinator or the referent doctor in case of emergency that cannot be dealt with on site.
Reporting and coordination
- Report the diagnosis in the individual file
- Report the medical cases on the technical data sheets
- Report back to the team coordinator over any flagrant trend observed
- Coordinate internally with Amel PHCs and projects for services available within the association
- Coordinate with stakeholders, partners and other external service providers
- Coordinate with other medical practitioners over situations that cannot be resolved personally
- Participate in routine team meetings as daily briefing and weekly meeting
- Participate in sessions and meetings with other Amel staff and with partners staff
- Support in the development and implementation of activities (with external stakeholders or internally at Amel)
Qualifications:
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Excellent reporting skills
- Excellent Arabic skills, English is preferred
- Demonstrated ability for active listening, stress management and dealing with difficult scenarios
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office- especially Microsoft Word and Excel (Powerpoint is a plus)
- Knowledge in GBV and SRH
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal skill and communication skills
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
Education and Experience:
- Essential: BSN or an LT of nursing or midwifery with a license to practice from the ministry of public health and relevant order registration (Nurses or Midwifes)
- At least two years of working experience within the field
- At least two years of previous experience in working with vulnerable populations
