Job Summary:
Based on the Programme’s objectives, DCL will be distributing healthy snacks (fresh fruits or vegetables along with packaged snack items) to children in 55 schools in North Lebanon and Akkar, and will prepare sandwiches in designated kitchens for 6 schools in North Lebanon and Akkar.
The Quality Control-Food Safety Officer will play a critical role in safeguarding public health by monitoring and enforcing food safety standards, and maintaining and improving the quality of snacks distributed. The Officer will conduct inspections and will provide guidance to ensure that food-handling areas adhere to the highest levels of safety and hygiene and snacks/food items follow the needed qualitative specifications., The Officer will also be responsible for monitoring, evaluating, and ensuring compliance with quality standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements in all necessary areas of the cleaning, packaging, and distribution process.
Job Description:
The Quality Control-Food Safety Officer:
- Develops, implements, and enforces quality control protocols and procedures.
- Coordinates with suppliers, supervises the preparation of the snacks and meals in the warehouse and the school kitchens, confirms the quality of the commodities received and distributed, follows-up on the conduction of pest control, and identifies areas of improvement in coordination with DCL’s and WFP’s standards of implementation.
- Ensures adherence to food safety standards and quality control measures, and maintains high standards of food safety within the food production or processing environment. Identifies potential health hazards and recommends corrective actions.
- Supervises the warehouse monitor and collaborates with the school kitchen monitors and provides assistance where needed.
- Conducts routine inspections in the warehouse, commodity-preparation areas, sub-supplier facilities, food processing facilities, and retail outlets. Also, conducts inspections and quality checks at various stages of food production, processing, and packaging.
- Develops and conducts training programs for the DCL team and the supplier(s)’ workers on standards of hygiene, food safety, and food quality to ensure understanding and compliance with quality standards.
- Maintains detailed records of quality control assessments, findings, proposed corrective and preventive actions.
- Submits reports on quality control and non-conformities to ensure continuous improvement.
- Participates in any relevant WFP and DCL meetings on quality control improvement.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or related fields; additional certifications in food safety or quality control are a plus.
- Minimum 2 years of previous experience in quality control, food safety, or a related field within the food industry
- MS proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Previous working experience with international NGOs is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations, quality control procedures, and industry standards.
