JOB SUMMARY

The Associate GBV Specialist focused on capacity development is responsible for leading trainings and supporting GBV staff and/or partner organizations to strengthen capacity for GBV prevention and response.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function with or without reasonable accommodation.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Planning
•    Support capacity needs assessments, in coordination with government and partners, as relevant
•    Support the development of capacity development strategies
•    Work closely with GBV Coordinator/GBV Manager/GBV Technical Advisor, as relevant, to plan capacity building interventions
•    Work with relevant program teams to set learning priorities for staff and stakeholders.
•    Coordinate with partner agencies, as relevant, to organize training and support capacity building needs
•    Support recruitment of new staff, as relevant, to strengthen organizational capacity for GBV response services
•    Ensure adherence to IMC’s GBV Minimum Standards, as well as relevant inter-agency guidelines and standards
•    Coordinate with Logistics and other departments to plan trainings

Capacity Building
•    Support the development and adaptation of learning tools and resources
•    Orient staff and partners, as relevant, to programming and professional development resources
•    Lead direct trainings and ToTs, as relevant, in technical areas for non-GBV specialists, as determined by program and contextual needs. Training topics may include: GBV core concepts, basic GBV response and referral, GBV integration and risk mitigation, PSEA
•    Lead direct trainings and ToTs, as relevant, in technical areas for GBV specialists, as determined by program and contextual needs. Training topics may include: GBV minimum standards, GBV case management, caring for child survivors, support for adolescent girls, women and girls safe spaces, and other technical approaches or program models
•    Lead both remote and in-person trainings
•    Support and lead capacity strengthening initiatives beyond trainings, as relevant, including coaching sessions and team exercises
•    Coordinate with MHPSS, Child Protection and other specialists, as relevant, for integrated capacity building initiatives

Project Management
•    Conduct regular monitoring and evaluation of trainings and track participation
•    Plan and procure supplies required for trainings, in line with budget and project timelines
•    Maintain clear records and data on all trainings and capacity building sessions
•    Track progress and report challenges
•    Contribute to regular program reports, on time and with accurate data
•    Ensure compliance with donor regulations

Coordination, Advocacy and Representation
•    Develop and maintain effective working relationship with relevant stakeholders including partner agencies, community leaders and service providers
•    Represent capacity needs, program goals, and GBV standards

Security and Conduct
•    Ensure compliance with security protocols and policies
•    Foster a safe and supportive working environment for all GBV staff, volunteers, and partners
•    Exemplify core principles of GBV programming, including respect, non-discrimination, responsible use of power, nonviolence, and promotion of gender equality
•    Contribute to the positive image and overall credibility of the program and organization, notably through adherence to the Code of Conduct and Ethics, including compliance with anti-harassment, safeguarding and PSEA policies

Code of Conduct

As applicable to this position, an individual must promote and encourage a culture of compliance and ethics throughout the organization and maintain a clear understanding of International Medical Corps’ and donor compliance and ethics standards and adheres to those standards. If this is a supervisory position, one must set an example of ethical behavior through one’s own conduct and oversight of the work of others; ensure that those who report to you have sufficient knowledge and resources to follow the standards outlined in the Code of Conduct and Ethics; monitor compliance of the people you supervise; enforce the Code of Conduct and Ethics and International Medical Corps’ policies, including the Safeguarding Policy and the Protection from Harassment, Bullying and Sexual Misconduct in the Workplace Policy, consistently and fairly; support employees who in good faith raise questions or concerns.

It is all staff shared responsibility and obligation to safeguard and protect populations with whom we work, including adults who may be particularly vulnerable and children. This includes safeguarding from the following conduct by our staff or partners: sexual exploitation and abuse; exploitation, neglect, or abuse of children, or adults at risk; and any form of trafficking in persons.

JOB REQUIREMENTS *

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
•    Typically, secondary school, or relevant level of experience required. University study preferred. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
•    Typically, 3+ years of related experience
•    Demonstrated commitment to core principles of GBV programming, including gender equality and survivor-centered support services.
•    Familiarity with relevant GBV prevention and response standards, approaches, and tools
•    Knowledge of standards and guidance related to protection from SEA
•    Training and facilitation experience
•    Experience working with local/national partners preferred
•    Familiarity with government and local service providers preferred
•    Ability to exercise sound judgment, remain flexible, and apply experience and guidance to evolving challenges
•    Strong communication skills

English- Arabic
