Women’s Platform to Lead is implementing a project entitled :” Solidarity to combat VAWG” under the «Strengthening the role of feminist CSOs working in the implementing of the Women, Peace and Security Agenda (WPSA)» program which aims at contributing to the effective implementation of the WPSA in Iraq, Lebanon, Jordan and Palestine through empowering feminist civil society organisations (CSOs) and women-led Community Based Organizations (CBOs) to play a leading role in implementing the WPSA, combating Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) comprehensively and enhancing women’s participation at local, national and regional levels.
WPL is seeking to recruit a Finance Officer in Baalbeck-Hermel area to work on “Solidarity to combat VAWG” project.
Job Description:
- Support the budget managers to elaborate accurate monthly cash forecast
- Compile the monthly cash forecast from all budget managers and send it to the Finance manager for subsequent action with close collaboration with the accountancy team
- Processes the payments and reception of cash/transfers during appropriate hours and in the field if needed
- Prepares the cheques for payments and ensures they are dully signed by the authorized persons
- Registers the entries in the logbook for each operation and controls the coherence between the log book and WPL procedures
- Ensures there is no cash shortage by anticipating cash withdrawal, informing the line manager in order to prepare the withdrawal request
- Performs weekly and monthly cash counts with the accounting officer and with other designated persons
- Filing of accounting documents, including in scan-it as advised by WPL procedures
Extracts the budget monitoring and follow up on monthly basis and whenever required
Updates monthly indicators - Prepares financial time sheets for donors according to WPL processes and donor requirements
- Ensures proper filing of donor documentation (contracts, amendments, diverse communication etc.)
- Elaborating, updating and implementing allocation tables not only of staff costs but also including other running costs such as office rent, communication, utilities, maintenance, stationeries and supplies
- Pulls out financial documents such as donor contract, partner contracts from the WPL for audits
- Compiles and checks audit requirements from other departments prior to submission
Drafts calculations needed for the auditor - Drafts donor financial reports
General Skills:
Bachelor Degree in Finance, Accounting or any other relevant Field
A minimum of 3 years of professional experience
Communication and reporting skills, preferably from a multi-cultural environment
Performing under pressure
Being proficient in English, Arabic in both written and oral skills
The program is implemented by a consortium of five organisations in the four countries: EuroMed Feminist Initiative (EFI), Women Empowerment Organisation (WEO) in Iraq, Arab Women Organisation (AWO) in Jordan, Association Najdeh (AN) in Lebanon and Palestinian Working Women Society in Development (PWWSD) in Palestine. All are members of EFI, a policy platform that provides expertise in the field of gender equality and women’s rights as inseparable from democracy building and citizenship, and advocates for political solutions to all conflicts, and for the right of peoples to self-determination.
This program is funded by the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) which implements France’s policy on international development and solidarity. Through its financing of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and the public sector, as well as its research and publications, AFD supports and accelerates transitions towards a fairer, more resilient world. It also provides training in sustainable development (at AFD Campus) and other awareness-raising activities in France.
