Functional Setting:

The International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) is an international organisation that promotes innovative, comprehensive, and sustainable migration policies. With 20 Member States and over 60 projects active throughout Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Mediterranean. Through its regional strategy, the Migration Capacity Partnerships for the Mediterranean (MCP Med), ICMPD delivers effective, capacity-centred migration partnerships to bridge political and cooperation agendas using a joint leadership and shared responsibility approach. The communications driver of the MCP Med strategy streamlines communication activities to be able to enact long-term communications whilst also providing adequate responses in times of crisis.

Under the supervision of the Portfolio Manager and under guidance of the Communications Hub Lead, the Junior Project Officer supports project implementation with an emphasis on the delivery of communication activities across projects, ensuring their effective implementation and coordination. The Junior Project Officer works closely with project teams.

Position-Specific Expertise:

  • Experience in supporting the development of content and production of communication materials (e.g. * blog posts, social media posts, press releases, and newsletters) and their dissemination via appropriate media platforms.
  • Creative thinking and ability to generate innovative ideas to support various media campaigns.
  • Capability to successfully build networks and partnerships.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good planning and organisational skills, with an ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple demands and competing priorities, while maintaining high quality standards. Great ability to work as part of a team within a networked structure, and to maintain good working relationships with colleagues across functional and geographical boundaries.

​Position-Specific Qualifications and Language Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant area of work.
  • A minimum of 1 year of position-relevant work experience in an international context.
  • Experience in use of digital platform tools.
  • Experience with graphic design programmes (Indesign, Illustrator, Adobe).
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in (verbal/written) English and Arabic. Proficiency in French is an asset.
  • Proficiency in use of standard IT tools.
