The Child Protection program has the aim of providing psychosocial support for children and their caregivers to enable them improving resilience and promoting positive coping mechanisms, facing hard situations and stressful events and incidents. It ensures that vulnerable people are supported and empowered in order to keep them safe. The Child Protection Technical Consultant will support the program in filling the gaps based on the needs, reviewing the existing tools and develop new ones. The Child Protection Technical consultant will be based in Amel HQ as part of the Child protection teamwith frequent visits to the field.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
✓ Review the available tools, curricula and materials existing and provide guidance regarding the different activities’ implementation while following the national, international guidelines and abiding by the sector’s recommendations;
✓ Review the content of the awareness sessions for children and caregivers and work on improving them as well as developing new content based on the need;
✓ Review the CBPSS curriculum and ensure making it more child-friendly and inclusive taking into consideration age groups;
✓ Work on a CP PSS matrix that gives access to all the existing material that guarantee a comprehensive understanding of the available resources as per the thematic areas;
✓ Tailor/ Adapt/ and/or develop curriculum for children with disabilities and ensure their inclusion while building the capacities of the team to deal with children with disabilities;
✓ Work on setting practical methods and techniques to enhance male engagement in the ChildProtection activities;
✓ Provide capacity building for the staff related to different thematic areas specifically child labor, child marriage and violence against children;
✓ Provide trainings to the team ensuring improvement of the quality of facilitation skills among the team;
✓ Write a reference paper about the Child Protection terminologies and core concepts to be usedby the department;
✓ Formulate a checklist for Child Protection assessment and vulnerability assessment;
✓ Create a tool for assessing the risk level (high and medium) to be used when outreaching and identifying the most vulnerable and involving them in the activities;
✓ Revise the existing training package provided to the local stakeholders and community members and suggest any additional training for boosting the quality of the package provided.
Other duties
✓ Respect and abide to the organization’s internal code of conduct;
✓ Adhere to the principles and guidance of the National CP Case Management SOPs, including mandatory reporting requirements;
✓ Attend and participate in local and capacity-building events as needed throughout the year;
✓ Be available to attend and participate in internal meetings;
✓ Maintain positive relations with other team members;
✓ Ensure the utmost confidentiality of data;
✓ Support in coordinating with Social Workers, Field Coordinator, Projects Coordinator and Program Coordinator;
✓ Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Coordinator;
Requirements, Qualifications and Skills:
⮚ Master degree in Social Sciences, Social work, Psychology, Humanitarian Affairs, International Development, or another relevant field in Gender Studies, Social Work, with extensive experience in CP programs.
⮚ At least 10 years practical experience in implementing protection projects at international or national NGOs.
⮚ Knowledge of Child Protection in the humanitarian context and familiarity with the main CP tools, the Package safe identification and referrals, case management and the guidelines on PSEA.
⮚ Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work within multi-cultural environments; good writing skills, ability to work within a team structure or independently, flexible, and can cope with stressful workloads and working with limited resources.
⮚ Demonstrated experience working with multiple age ranges including facilitating trainings and/or activities targeting children and youth.
