Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Chief Transport Officer, the Transport Assistant performs a variety of functions which include:
•Conducting mechanical check on pool vehicles and reporting any discrepancies
•Assists in carrying out driving tests and issuing driver's permits and preparing driver orientation briefing.
•Assist the Training, Safety and Inspection Unit in regular inspection of assets as well as preparing and delivering vehicular training to ensure maximum utilization and safety.
•Issuing pool vehicles for duty purposes and updating daily issuance reports
•Updates and maintains a detailed database of UN Driving permits.
•Carries out any other duties assigned.

Education
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
A valid Driving License category “C” is required.
Technical or vocational certificate in automotive engineering/repair trade or transportation in logistics operations is required.
Work Experience
A minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in the maintenance and repair of motor vehicles, heavy/specialized transport equipment, plants and/or Mechanized Handling Equipment (MHE) is required.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position(s) advertised, fluency in English is required.
Assessment
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
