The Women’s Programs Association (WPA) is a non-profit non-governmental organization (NGO), legally registered with the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities since 2008. Its mission is to provide support to Palestinian refugee women and youth and other vulnerable groups in Lebanon to develop their capacities, realize their rights, and fulfill their needs. This is achieved through Protection, Education, Livelihood, and Humanitarian Assistance programs implemented in seven Palestinian refugee camps and surroundings throughout Lebanon. WPA's work is guided by Transparency, Integrity, Non-Discrimination, Respect for Human Beings values.
The Women's Programs Association is currently in the process of recruiting four Teachers in Mathematics (1) and Sciences (1) to be taught in French language, French (1) and Arabic (1) within the context of SOHA project funded by ANERA targeting students in grades 6,8,9 and 10. These positions will be based at WPA’s center at Beddawi camp in Tripoli.
Job Purpose
Educational support for SOHA project students identified with low-performance records in school and/or at-risk of early marriage.
Responsibilities
Under the direct technical supervision of the Center Supervisor, the incumbent will be responsible to:
- Monitor students' academic performance, attendance, and engagement levels to identify those who may be at risk of falling behind or dropping out.
- Look for changes in behavior or signs of distress that may indicate a student is facing challenges outside of academics.
- Adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse learning needs of students, incorporating differentiated instruction and inclusive teaching practices.
- Participate in meetings and provide input on the best strategies to support specific students, sharing insights into their academic progress and challenges.
- Maintain open lines of communication with the parents and caregivers of at-risk students, providing regular updates on their child's progress and engaging them in the support process.
- Offer strategies and resources that parents can use to support their child's learning at home.
- Create an inclusive and supportive classroom atmosphere that values diversity, encourages participation, and supports peer relationships.
- Implement classroom management strategies that promote respect, responsibility, and a positive learning environment for all students.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree of one of educational majors (French, Mathematics, Sciences, Arabic)
- Minimum two years of experience working in Active and Inclusive Learning support for Syrian students
- Excellent written and spoken French and Arabic language
- Experience in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
Skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Solid understanding of the subjects being taught, including French, Mathematics, Sciences, Arabic
- Ability to establish and maintain a positive and structured learning environment
- Ability to work under pressure.
