About the project:

Under the project of “Improving Mental Health and Well-being of People Living in Lebanon” A consortium of three organizations, MdM, Skoun, Embrace, and the National Mental Health Program (NMHP), supported by the Agence Francaise de Development (AFD), aims to improve the opportunities for women, men, boys, girls, and gender variant individuals in Lebanon to enjoy the best possible mental health and wellbeing. The consortium aims to reach its objective by supporting community-based Mental Health and Psycho-Social Support (MHPSS) and Substance Uses (SU) systems offering appropriate, quality, and gender-inclusive services to all people living in Lebanon, particularly the most vulnerable groups and people at risk while tackling gender barriers in service access and gender biases in service provision. The specific activities of the project target the different levels of the social-ecological model with activities designed and aimed at the individual, interpersonal, organizational, and community levels.

Objectives/ Purpose

Skoun is a Lebanese, non-profit, non-governmental organization and one of the first outpatient facilities that provide accessible treatment, education, and protection for all people who use drugs while maintaining its values regarding inclusion, accessibility, integrity, and dignity. Skoun is committed to promoting harm reduction and improving public health outcomes related to substance use. To further our mission, we are seeking a graphic designer to:

1. Create 2 booklet designs' that will be used in our youth prevention department to educate young people and parents, about the risks associated with substance use, and to provide information about harm reduction strategies that can help reduce those risks with Arabic and English languages (Arabic and English could be separate or both on the same booklets).
2. Create 1 package of designs (a box of 10 cards + cover of the box, each card has two sides) that will be used in our outreach program to provide information about the risks associated with alcohol and drug use. The same design is to be applied to Arabic and English versions separately.
3. Create from scratch a design for 1 brochure for our safer nightlife program, same design 1 English and 1 Arabic separately.
4. Create 1 poster design that will be used in our outreach program
5. Create one (1) roll-up design for Skoun’s Safer Night Life program, English and Arabic on the same design 120 cm (L) x 80 cm (w).

Scope of Work

The graphic designer we are seeking should be able to:

1. Develop the visual concept and design for each of the deliverables.
2. Create original graphics and illustrations from scratch as needed to support the messaging of each deliverable with continuous follow-up with Skoun’s focal point, such as illustrations for each of the substances.
3. Advise on the size and number of folds for each design depending on the content which would be shared with the graphic designer by Skoun’s focal points.
4. Create a cohesive and visually appealing look and feel for each deliverable in alignment with Skoun's identity, guidelines and orientation.
5. Ensure that all deliverables are designed to be clear, effective, and culturally appropriate for our target audiences.
6. Amend and change unlimitedly, based on multiple reviews of the content, and deliver final design files in open file and print-ready format for each deliverable.

Work Experience:

1. Experience working as a graphic designer, with a portfolio that demonstrates a range of skills and projects, preferably with NGOs and the humanitarian field.
2. Experience designing materials for mental health and harm reduction is a plus.
3. Strong skills in layout, illustration, color theory, and other design fundamentals, with the ability to create and illustrate visually appealing and cohesive designs.
4. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with a team and take feedback, direction and feedback from the focal points.
5. Attention to detail, with a commitment to quality and accuracy in all work products.
6. Understanding of and sensitivity to cultural and linguistic diversity, with experience designing materials for diverse audiences.
