EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 1 to 2 years

ENGLISH LANGUAGE: Good
FRENCH LANGUAGE: None
COUNTRY/CITY: North Lebanon / Akkar / Lebanon

DESCRIPTION:

Job Purpose

The Community Outreach Volunteer will be in direct contact with the beneficiaries receiving assistance at the distribution sites. He/she will screen Children under 5 and Pregnant Lactating Women for malnutrition. He/she will assess nutrition vulnerability with Women and Caregivers of children under 5 years. He/she will also refer them to the nearest healthcare facilities to receive the appropriate care.

Responsibilities

  • Circulate informational flyers containing the list of Primary Healthcare Centers within the designated area, offering treatment for malnutrition.
  • Identify malnutrition cases (Severe Acute Malnutrition – SAM and Moderate Acute Malnutrition – MAM) by screening specific beneficiaries (Pregnant Lactating Women and Children Under 5) during distribution activities.
  • Ensure that safe identification and referrals are made with transparency, confidentiality, and efficiency to meet the needs and provide access to needed services.
  • Distribute supplements to children under 5, when available.
  • Promote awareness by sharing key messages on Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) and protection.
  • Promote awareness regarding nutrition-related services accessible at Primary Healthcare Centers (PHCCs).
  • Maintain control among the crowd during the screening process while minimizing disruptions to the distribution site.
  • Educate mothers on the Family MUAC initiative and interpretation of results.
  • Report any encountered issues during data collection promptly to the Nutrition Officer.
  • Accurately document all field notes and data using Kobo/paper forms.
  • Uphold data protection and confidentiality standards.

Minimum Hiring Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Public health, or any other medical related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience in field work.
  • Knowledge/familiarity with the area of operations.
  • Good command (verbal and written) of English.
  • Fluent in Arabic.
