Under the supervision of the Project Manager, the Livelihood Officer is responsible for the day-to-day activities the project, including conducting outreach activities, data collection, meetings and mobilizing key project stakeholders, conducting service mapping, and oversee trainings, among others. He/She will be accountable for the smooth operation of the project activities in the project area meeting project timelines and targets, in addition to internal capacity building trainings.
BACKGROUND
ACTED is an International Non-Governmental Organization registered in France with global operations in Central and South Asia, Europe, Middle-East and Africa. ACTED has been active in Lebanon since 2006 operating mainly in the North and Beirut and Mount Lebanon governorates of Lebanon. ACTED has recently launched a program through Dutch funding supporting livelihoods through Social Development Centers and supporting local enterprises in consortium with 3 other international NGOs.
Service Mapping & Community mobilization
- Inform key stakeholders about the project;
- Lead on the implementation of the outreach strategy;
- Conduct interviews with key enterprises and business stakeholders;
- Conduct phone interviews for beneficiary selection;
Supporting in the implementation of the project activities:
- Oversee and support the implementation of training activities;
- Support in the TOR preparation for the trainings
- Support in procurement of materials where needed
- Oversee and support cash for work activities, including home-based visits;
- Collect attendance sheets;
- Record monthly results and report back to the project manager
- Reporting and documentation
- Ensure proper filing of attendance sheets and project documents;
- Follow up on all paper work and reporting needed from the field;
- Conduct phone calls and follow up with beneficiaries, if necessary;
- Collect case studies and success stories according to ACTED guidelines.
Accountability to Communities and Beneficiaries

The Livelihoods Assistant is responsible for ensuring that all relations with the communities we work are conducted in a respectful and consultative manner. Due attention must be paid to ensuring that communities are adequately consulted and informed about ACTED program objectives, activities, beneficiary selection criteria, methodologies as well as complaints and referral mechanisms. This is the responsibility of every ACTED staff member.
Requirements
- University degree in a relevant field such as public health, Economics, Business, Education etc.
- Strong ability to work independently, organize work, meet deadlines, maintain composure, prioritize work under pressure, coordinate multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail;
- Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, creativity and flexibility;
- INGO and/or UN experience in similar position preferred;
- Personal qualities: Works well in and promotes teamwork, comfortable in a multi-cultural environment, flexible and able to handle pressure well;
- Experience or knowledge working in the protection sector;
- Experience or knowledge in public health issues;
- Experience delivering trainings and curriculums.
- Experience in Burj Hammoud area is a plus

Flexibility:
Remote work: one day of working from home per week if work schedule allows.
Flexibility to arrive to office between 7:30 am and 9:30 am, employee should cover 8:30 working hours per day including 30 minutes lunch break.
Emergency Leave : ACTED staff are allowed, after manager’s approval, to leave during their working hours for 30 minutes to 2 hours in case of emergency and to compensate it within 5 working days.
