The Fashion Designer will create innovative and sustainable fashion designs by repurposing and transforming pre-existing garments and materials, combining creativity, technical expertise, and a strong understanding of sustainable fashion practices to design unique and environmentally friendly clothing and accessories.
1. Develop upcycling concepts that align with the strategy of La Boutique and sustainability principles:
- Brainstorm and sketch design ideas for upcycled garments, considering factors like fabric composition, color schemes, and silhouettes.
- Allocate and monitor the production of the finished products to the network of SMEs.
- Research current fashion trends and advise on consumer preferences and purchasing behavior.
2. Source and select materials:
- Identify and source pre-existing garments, fabrics, and accessories for upcycling projects.
- Collaborate with suppliers and partners to acquire sustainable and high-quality materials.
- Assess the condition and potential of materials for transformation and determine appropriate design techniques accordingly.
3. Transform and construct garments:
- Apply various upcycling techniques such as deconstruction, reconstruction, patchwork, embellishments, and other creative methods to transform existing garments into new designs.
- Create a sample from each design.
- Use sewing, cutting, and other garment construction techniques to modify and assemble upcycled pieces.
- Ensure the structural integrity, functionality, and aesthetic appeal of upcycled designs.
4. Implement sustainable design practices:
- Incorporate sustainable and ethical principles into the design process, such as reducing waste, minimizing the use of new materials, and promoting fair labor practices.
- Implement environmentally friendly practices in sourcing, production, and packaging.
- Stay informed about advancements in sustainable fashion practices and integrate them into your designs and processes.
5. Manage the sewing workshop team and SMEs network:
- Supervise the members of the workshop and their respective work.
- Distribute tasks in an efficient way to maximize team productivity.
- Conduct interviews with new SMEs to grow the network and assess their technical skills.
- Ensure the proper layout of the sewing workshop.
- Assist the team in sewing activities.
- Instruct and teach team and SMEs on techniques required for carrying out certain tasks.
- Manage conflicts and solve problems that may arise within the team while minimizing the damage.
6. Communicate with the units for better coordination:
- Coordinate with the collection and sorting workshop manager to define and review the criteria for the clothes to be sent to the sewing workshop.

Working Schedule: Monday till Friday; From 09:00 AM till 05:00 PM.
Contract Type: 1 year (Renewable based on performance and funding).
