Job Title : Senior Case Worker
Reports to : Protection Officer for Case Management

Position Type : Full Time
Job Purpose:
The Senior Case Worker is responsible to ensure the provision by INTERSOS case management team of quality case management services. He / She is responsible to supervise and manage case worker teams under his/her responsibility.
Act according to GBV and Child Protection case management guidelines and principles including: survivor centered approach, respect of confidentiality, prioritize according to safety concerns, ‘do not harm’, ensure a non-discriminatory approach, act according to the best interest of the child, ensure accountability, respect professional boundaries and avoid conflict of interest.
- Ensure that protection principles are understood, maintained and enforced;
- Provide direct support and care for vulnerable case with protection concerns (including survivors of gender-based violence), including psychosocial support and case management.
- Supervise and manage Case Worker team
Generic Duties:
- Plan/Coordinate with Line Manager and the Case Workers team; and in high risk cases, in consultation with Protection Specialist, to avoid duplication.
- Conduct home visits to assess the living conditions of the cases, when needed, and if the child/the survivor/the PoC give her/his consent;
- Ensure the provision of emergency cash assistance for the most vulnerable clients, according to the needs of the clients, the agreed criteria and the internal procedures and under the supervision of the Protection Officer for Case Management and Protection Manager
- Be available to participate in meetings and trainings in and outside the centres including case management meetings and case conferences meetings or any other meetings when required
- Accomplish any other assignments given by supervisors or the Project Manager;
- Be available to participate in events, meetings and trainings in and outside the centres including case management meetings and case conferences meetings or any other meetings when required by the Protection Manager.
- Train and coach case workers under his/her responsibility based on the needs
- Accomplish any other assignments given by supervisor or the Project Manager.
Specific Duties:
Case Management:
- Act as referral focal point for INTERSOS case management in the geographical area of coverage under her/his responsibility and distribute the cases between the case workers according to the case management national guidelines
- Support through coaching and capacity building the caseworkers ensuring proper handling of cases, documentation of forms and databases.
- SCW supports the team in finding solutions and appropriate responses to everyday challenges, and will flag issues (both urgent and structural) with case management to the PO.
Monitoring and Reporting:
- Provide daily and weekly updates to the Protection officer-CM about new cases assessed as per internal rules;
- Follow the monitoring strategic plan for case management and send all documents to the Protection officer each month;
- Collect the data about cases assessed and assisted by case workers in her/his team to update the internal case tracking sheets (weekly and monthly reporting);
- Ensure the effective filing of cases, reporting on internal reporting systems with all the needed documents and files.
- Liaise and report to POCM the main issues encountered and provide recommendations to solve them
Team management:
The SCW additional responsibilities consist in ensuring that the case management team is able to work successfully by supporting in particular the planning, implementation and reporting of the activities, as well as ensuring the well-being and positive working environment for all members of the team.
- Responsible for the planning of the teams work under his/her responsibility
- SCW will ensure equal division of workload, the timely follow up of target and will flag issues of overload of caseworkers to PO in advance
- The SCW will ensure proper handover between the caseworkers if needed
Team dynamics and overall functioning of the center:
- SCWs flag issues in team dynamics or collaboration with colleagues at the center with PO and try to solve these issues as much as possible
- SCWs flag issues concerning security and changes of environment in the field, and support identification of appropriate responses
- SCWs support positive team dynamics. This includes providing support and space for caseworkers to express emotions and experiences within the case management team at each location
- SCWs should foster collaboration at the centers between the different activities and components
Meetings, trainings and capacity building:
- SCW meets weekly with PO to discuss about ongoing issues and strategy for the teams
- SCWs attend external meetings on case management as required by the POCM
- Senior caseworkers will participate in capacity building initiatives and ensure in agreement with PO on how to best transfer this knowledge to colleagues
Focal points:
- SCWs will function as focal point to follow up on specific themes (health, PSS, shelter etc) in agreement with the PO CM,
Education:
- University Degree in Social Work, Psychology or related field.
