Accountabilities
- Assisting the nurse in organizing and providing care and treatments to patients, respecting at all times, the rules of hygiene, safety, comfort, dignity, medical secret and patient confidentiality.
- Giving response to nurse’s requirements in case of an emergency
- Participating in the surveillance and monitoring of the patient and reporting to the nurse any relevant information. Compensating patients’ possible lack of autonomy by assisting and helping them in feeding, personal hygiene, movements, and general comfort.
- Participating in the monitoring of nursing activities (correctly fill in patient files, etc.) and ensuring a relevant transfer of information between duty teams. Reporting any problem arising in the care unit, especially the loss, robbery or damage of equipment or medicines.
- Ensuring cleanliness of his/her working environment (including facilities, material, linen, equipment, and carrying out the sorting and disposal of waste)
- Working together with the nurses, cleaners, and caretakers.
- Participating actively in the hospital platform (meetings, committee,.), trainings and in the basic health education sessions
- Participating in any other related activities as requested by the line manager.
- Performing minor maintenance and cleaning of the biomedical equipment following user manual and protocols. Alerting the supervisor in case of malfunctioning of any device.
Context specific accountabilities
- Recording the vital signs of visiting patients, such as temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiratory rate.
- Using standardized screening tools and questionnaires to identify symptoms indicative of cholera, COVID-19, measles, or any other communicable diseases.
- Documenting information related to symptoms and health condition of patients in the medical records of MSF.Assessing of the symptoms experienced by cholera patients (e.g., severe diarrhea, dehydration) and those experienced by COVID-19 patients as well (e.g., fever, cough, shortness of breath).
- Educating patients and families about the symptoms of cholera and COVID-19, their modes of transmission, and prevention methodsAssessing the severity of the patients’ conditions and prioritizing the flow accordingly.
- Collecting information related to the medical history and the symptomatic signs of the patient.
- Performing basic diagnostic tests such as blood glucose test or oxygen saturation levels test.
- Providing initial care and first aid as needed.
- Using properly the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as masks, gloves, gowns, and eye protection items, as and when needed, especially when performing COVID-19 rapid test or Cholera rapid test.
- Implementing effectively the patients’ screening procedures to identify potential infectious cases( COVID-19, Cholera, measles, …).
- Cleaning and disinfecting surfaces, equipment, and surroundings on a regular basis.
- Adhering to isolation protocols and measures when dealing with patients with contagious diseases.
- Organizing the flow of NCD (Non-Communicable Diseases)/Pediatric and SRH (Sexual and Reproductive Health) patients according to pre-scheduled appointments: on time, missed or walk-in.
Education
- Essential: Brevet Professionnel (BP) as an Assistant Nurse
- Desirable: Academic or Technical Nursing diploma or degree.
Experience
- Essential: 2 years of previous working experience in a hospital setting.
- Desirable: Previous work experience with local or international non-governmental organizations (NGOs)
Languages
- Essential: Full professional proficiency of Arabic Language.
- Desirable: Limited professional proficiency to Full professional proficiency of the English Language.
- Desirable: Proficiency in French at any level.
