Objective of the Role:
The Child Protection Officer will ensure the safety and well-being of children by acting as the focal point for the protection department, coordinating and implementing child protection programs and policies. This position requires a deep commitment to the rights and welfare of children, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Child Protection Programs:

- Develop, implement, and evaluate child protection programs in line with international standards and best practices.
- Conduct assessments to identify the protection needs of children and communities.
- Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to ensure the delivery of quality child protection services.
- Responsible for implementing psychosocial support activities for children and adults.
- Knowledge in GBV is a plus.
Case Management:

- Oversee the development and implementation of case management systems for children at risk.
- Provide guidance and support to caseworkers in handling complex cases.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of case management interventions.
- Oversee the internal and external referral systems.
Advocacy and Awareness:

- Advocate for the rights of children at risk and promote awareness of child protection issues.
- Collaborate with community leaders, local authorities, and other organizations to raise awareness and prevent child protection violations.
- Develop and deliver training sessions on child protection for staff and external partners.
- Build the capacity of field staff on psychological and social issues.
Focal Point Responsibilities:

- Serve as the focal point for the protection department, liaising with other departments and external agencies.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting on child protection activities.
- Collaborate with the monitoring and evaluation team to track and report on the impact of child protection programs.
Donor Reporting:

- Prepare accurate and timely reports on project activities, outcomes, and impact in accordance with donor requirements.
- Supervise the team of social workers, facilitators, and outreach officers related to each project.
- Prepare the manuals and curriculums needed for the department. These will be used in the sessions.
Competencies and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
- Proven experience in child protection programming within the NGO or humanitarian sector.
- Knowledge of international standards and guidelines related to child protection.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a sensitive and diverse cultural context.
