Organizational Context:
The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is the world’s largest volunteer-based humanitarian network, comprising 192 member National Societies. MENA Region Planning, Monitoring & Evaluation, and Reporting (PMER) Unit:
The PMER Unit aims to enhance the quality of monitoring, evaluation, accountability, learning, and knowledge management to improve program quality in humanitarian and development efforts. This supports them to remain preferred partners in their countries and to be sustainable and accountable for their actions, providing sustainable results for people in need in line with S2030 and the IFRC Plan and Budget 2025. The PMER Unit ensures the development of good monitoring and evaluation practices in 17 National Societies and adherence to global IFRC/Movement standards for accountability and evidence-based informed management throughout the project cycle.
Job Purpose:
Under the supervision of the Senior PMER Officer, the PMER Intern will support the Regional PMER team in maintaining the standards of developed and reviewed reports, as well as other PMER-related tasks as needed.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in managing the regional Emergency reporting calendar and follow up on due reports.
- Support maintaining the quality of Emergency Plans and Reports to meet the standards set by the IFRC PMER Team.
- Assist with PMER-related tasks as needed.
- Support with administrative tasks.
Support Provided to the Intern:
The PMER Intern will receive:
- Experience with IFRC and RCRC Movement PMER approaches.
- Knowledge of IFRC and RCRC Movement working modalities, policies, and technical standards.
- Experience with IFRC procedures and technical standards in emergency contexts.
Education:
- University degree in Political Science, Public Health, Translation, Business Administration, Public Administration, Social Studies, or other relevant areas of study – Required.
Experience:
- 1+ years of working and management experience in the area of expertise – Required.
- Demonstrated experience in report development and design – Required.
- Experience within the International Federation or a Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement organization, or in an international organization or NGO – Preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Languages:
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment – Required.
- Good communication, negotiation, and management skills – Required.
- Focused on quality and standards – Required.
- Fluent spoken and written Arabic and English – Required.
- Proficiency in another IFRC official language (French) – Preferred.
