تستمر معاناة آلاف المودعين في لبنان جراء حجز ودائعهم في المصارف منذ خمس سنوات، بينما يعيش المسؤول الأول عن الهندسات المالية والمتهم في ملفات الفساد، رياض سلامة، في رفاهية بعد نقله إلى مستشفى بحنس بحجة إجراء فحوصات طبية منذ يوم الأحد الماضي، على الرغم من توقيفه في وقت سابق من قبل قوى الأمن.

في هذا السياق، يعبّر رئيس جمعية “صرخة المودعين”، علاء خورشيد، عن غضب المودعين في تصريحاته لـ”ليبانون ديبايت”، حيث أكد أن “المودعين كانوا يتمنون إعدام من سلبهم أموالهم في الساحة العامة وإعادة ودائعهم التي سُرقت منهم”. وأضاف خورشيد أن “طريقة التعامل مع رياض سلامة غير مقبولة، وهو المسؤول عن الأزمة الاقتصادية التي يعاني منها لبنان، وهو المسؤول عن تدمير حياة المودعين، وبالتأكيد هو ليس الفاعل الوحيد، بل كان مجرد أداة في يد السياسيين الذين استخدموه ككبش محرقة”.

وتابع خورشيد مستنكراً الوضع، قائلاً: “يجب أن يُحاسب هذا الرجل بأسرع وقت، لتتضح جميع الحقائق”. وأكد أن “سلامة لن يعترف أبداً بشركائه السياسيين، لكن من المفروض أن يسارع مدعي عام المال إلى الحجز على جميع أمواله وإعادتها إلى صندوق خاص يعيد حقوق المودعين”. وأشار إلى ضرورة اتخاذ إجراءات حاسمة، داعيًا إلى حبسه فورًا.

كما أشار خورشيد إلى المعاملة الظالمة التي يتعرض لها المودعون، قائلاً: “بينما يتعرض المودع الذي يطالب بحقه في المصرف إلى الضرب والمعاملة السيئة، يحظى من سرق أموال الشعب اللبناني بامتيازات غير مسبوقة”.

أما عن تحركات المودعين المقبلة، ذكر خورشيد أنه “على الرغم من أن الجمعية لا تقوم بتحركات ميدانية، إلا أن هناك تحركين قادمين باتجاه مصرف لبنان، بالإضافة إلى اجتماع مرتقب مع رئيس الجمهورية ورئيس الحكومة المكلّف بعد تشكيل الحكومة”. وقال إن الهدف من الاجتماع هو “التأكد من نوايا المسؤولين في التعامل مع قضايا المودعين وما قيل عن حماية وإنصاف لهم، والتي يجب أن لا تكون كلمات فارغة بل يجب أن تترجم بخطوات ملموسة”.

وفي الختام، أعرب خورشيد عن “عدم تفاؤله من محاسبة المتورطين في سرقة أموال المودعين”، قائلاً: “حتى وإن تم حبس أحدهم، فإن هذا قد يؤدي إلى تصعيد داخلي في لبنان في ظل الوضع السياسي المعقد”.

The suffering of thousands of depositors in Lebanon continues as their deposits remain locked in banks for five years, while the main figure behind financial engineering and accused in corruption cases, Riad Salameh, enjoys VIP treatment after being transferred from his detention by security forces to a hospital in Bhanes for medical tests since last Sunday, despite being under arrest.

In this context, the head of the Depositors' Cry Association, Alaa Khourshid, expresses the anger of depositors in his statements to “Lebanon Debate,” where he confirmed that “depositors wished for the execution of those who stole their money in the public square and the return of their stolen deposits.” Khourshid added, “The way Salameh is being treated is unacceptable. He is responsible for the country's economic crisis, and he is responsible for ruining the lives of depositors. Certainly, he was not the only actor, but he was merely a tool used by politicians who turned him into a scapegoat.”

Khourshid continued to express his discontent, saying: “This man must be held accountable as soon as possible, to clarify all the facts.” He emphasized that “Salameh will never acknowledge his political partners, but the Financial Prosecutor should move quickly to seize all his assets and return them to a special fund for depositors.” He called for decisive action, urging Salameh's immediate detention.

Khourshid also pointed out the unjust treatment faced by depositors, stating: “While the depositor who protests in a bank to get his deposit is beaten and mistreated, the man who committed the biggest robbery in the country's history is receiving unprecedented privileges.”

Regarding the future movements of depositors, Khourshid noted, “Although the association does not engage in field actions, two upcoming movements will head towards Lebanon's central bank, in addition to a meeting with the President of the Republic and the newly appointed Prime Minister after the government formation.” He said the goal of the meeting is “to check the intentions of officials regarding depositors' issues, and whether their statements about protecting and compensating depositors are deep and intentional words, because these are very dangerous words. What depositors are asking for is not protection or compensation but the return of their deposits and a clear roadmap regarding the timeline for their recovery.”

In conclusion, Khourshid expressed his “lack of optimism regarding the possibility of imprisoning those involved in stealing depositors' funds,” saying, “Even if someone is imprisoned, this could lead to internal conflict in Lebanon given the complex political situation.”
