جابر: الوزارة لا تملك سلطة مباشرة على القطاع المصرفي
أكد وزير المال ياسين جابر عقب لقائه وفدًا من صندوق النقد الدولي اليوم الأربعاء، أنَّ “تعيين حاكم جديد لمصرف لبنان يمثل أولوية كبيرة، وذلك لدوره المحوري في التعاون مع الصندوق”.
وأشار جابر إلى أن “التحضيرات والإصلاحات الاقتصادية مستمرة بشكل متواصل بهدف تمكين لبنان من تنفيذ خطته المالية بنجاح”، مؤكدًا دعم الوزارة لتعديل قانون النقد والتسليف، مشددًا على أهمية انتظار تعيين الحاكم الجديد، وأنه من الضروري أن تلتزم الحكومة بالبرنامج الإصلاحي.
وأضاف جابر أن “ملف الودائع سيتم معالجته على مراحل، مع التأكيد على أن وزارة المال لا تملك سلطة مباشرة على القطاع المصرفي”، مشيرًا إلى أن الوزارة ستعمل على التنسيق مع مختلف الجهات المعنية لضمان سير العملية بشكل صحيح.
ويُذكر أنه منذ عام 2019، انهار سعر صرف الليرة اللبنانية من 1500 ليرة مقابل الدولار الواحد إلى نحو 100 ألف ليرة مقابل الدولار الواحد حاليًا، ما يعكس أزمة اقتصادية كبيرة في لبنان.
كما يشار إلى أن حاكم مصرف لبنان السابق، رياض سلامة، انتهت ولايته، ليخلفه نائبه، وسيم منصوري، الذي تولى المنصب مؤقتًا.
Jaber: The Ministry Has No Direct Authority Over the Banking Sector
Minister of Finance, Yassine Jaber, confirmed after his meeting with a delegation from the International Monetary Fund on Wednesday that “appointing a new Governor for Lebanon's Central Bank is a top priority, due to his pivotal role in working with the Fund.”
Jaber pointed out that “preparations and reforms are ongoing to enable Lebanon to implement its financial plan,” stressing his support for the amendment of the Lebanese monetary and credit law. He also highlighted the importance of waiting for the new governor's appointment and emphasized the necessity of the government's commitment to the reform program.
He added that “the issue of deposits will be addressed in phases, with confirmation that the Ministry of Finance does not have direct authority over the banking sector,” noting that the ministry will coordinate with various concerned parties to ensure that the process proceeds correctly.
It is worth mentioning that since 2019, the Lebanese pound has depreciated significantly, dropping from 1500 pounds per US dollar to approximately 100,000 pounds per US dollar currently, reflecting the country's deepening economic crisis.
Furthermore, the former governor of the Central Bank of Lebanon, Riad Salameh, concluded his term, and his deputy, Wassim Mansouri, has assumed the position temporarily.
