في حديثٍ لـ”ليبانون ديبايت”، أكد رئيس الاتحاد العمالي العام، بشارة الأسمر، أنه “من المفترض أن تبدأ الاجتماعات المكثفة قبل موعد اجتماع لجنة مؤشر الغلاء، حيث يجب على كل فريق تقديم الإحصائيات والدراسات التي يمتلكها”. ولفت الأسمر إلى أنه طلب من وزير العمل أن يستعين بالإحصاء المركزي الذي يصدر إحصائيات التضخم بشكل دوري، وأكد على أهمية الاستعانة بجهات إحصائية مستقلة وموثوقة مثل الدولية للمعلومات.
موقف الاتحاد العمالي العام والهيئات الاقتصادية
أضاف الأسمر أن “الجميع متفق على أن الحد الأدنى للأجور لم يعد يفي بالغرض”، مشيرًا إلى أن الوزير حيدر والهيئات الاقتصادية مقتنعون بهذا الموضوع. وأوضح الأسمر أن هناك محادثات تمهيدية ستجري بين الاتحاد العمالي العام والهيئات الاقتصادية قبل اجتماع لجنة المؤشر، حيث سيتم مناقشة سبل تحسين الأجر الأدنى بما يتناسب مع متطلبات الحياة اليومية.
دراسات تكشف أن الألف دولار لم تعد كافية
وأكد الأسمر أن “مبلغ الألف دولار لم يعد كافيًا”، موضحًا أن الدراسات التي أُجريت تشير إلى أن الألف دولار لا تفي باحتياجات المواطن اللبناني. وأضاف أن “مقومات الحد الأدنى للأجر تشمل السكن، السلة الغذائية، الطبابة، الاستشفاء، التعليم، الاتصالات، والمواصلات”، مشيرًا إلى أن الأسعار في حالة تفلت، مع غياب الرقابة الفعالة على الأسواق.
الواقع الاقتصادي والأمني في لبنان
وأشار الأسمر إلى أنه رغم أن “مبلغ الألف دولار لا يكفي”، يجب أخذ الواقع الاقتصادي و الأمني في لبنان بعين الاعتبار، حيث أن “الأوضاع الأمنية غير مستقرة، والعديد من المؤسسات الاقتصادية متوقفة جزئيًا أو كليًا نتيجة للاعتداءات الإسرائيلية على لبنان”. ورغم ذلك، أكد أن الاتحاد العمالي العام منفتح على مراجعة الأرقام بما يتناسب مع الإمكانيات المتاحة.
الصعوبات والتحديات في الحصول على قروض ومساعدات
وأشار الأسمر إلى أن “البلد لم يتعافَ بعد”، وأنه لا يزال اللبنانيون يواجهون صعوبات كبيرة في الحصول على قروض ومساعدات. كما أكد أن “الحظر المفروض على لبنان لم يُرفع بعد، سواء من ناحية السياحة أو تصدير المنتجات اللبنانية، الصناعية وغير الصناعية”.

In an interview with Lebanon Debate, the President of the General Labor Union, Bashara Asmar, stated, “Intensive meetings should begin before the Price Index Committee meeting, with each team required to present the statistics and studies they possess.” He further explained that he requested Minister Haydar to consult the Central Statistical Office, which regularly publishes inflation statistics, and highlighted the importance of consulting independent and reliable statistical bodies, such as Information International.
The Labor Union's Stance and Economic Bodies' Agreement
Asmar added, “Everyone agrees that the minimum wage is no longer sufficient,” noting that both Minister Haydar and the economic bodies are convinced of this. He explained that preliminary discussions will take place between the Labor Union and the economic bodies before the Price Index Committee meeting, where they will discuss ways to improve the minimum wage to meet daily living requirements.
Studies Indicate That $1,000 Is No Longer Enough
Asmar emphasized that “the amount of $1,000 is no longer enough,” explaining that studies show that $1,000 does not meet the Lebanese citizen's needs. He added that “the minimum wage components include housing, the food basket, healthcare, hospitalization, education, communications, and transportation,” and noted that prices are in a state of chaos, with a lack of effective market regulation.
Lebanon's Economic and Security Reality
Asmar pointed out that although “the $1,000 amount is insufficient,” the economic and security situation in Lebanon must be considered. He stated that “the security situation is unstable, and many economic institutions are partially or entirely shut down due to Israeli attacks on Lebanon.” Nevertheless, he confirmed that the Labor Union is open to reviewing the figures according to available resources.
Challenges in Obtaining Loans and Aid
Asmar stressed that “the country has not recovered yet,” and that Lebanese citizens are still facing significant difficulties in obtaining loans and aid. He also pointed out that “Lebanon is still under sanctions, both in terms of tourism and the export of Lebanese industrial and non-industrial products.”
